Why choose Derby?

The University of Derby has two campuses approximately one hour apart. One in Derby and one in Buxton…

Derby is a safe, affordable and lively city. There is plenty to do, with hundreds of shops, plenty of restaurants and bars, four cinemas and two theatres. Derby is surrounded by the beautiful Peak District National Park, which is perfect for long walks and a variety of adventure sports. And, being in the heart of the UK, means you can easily travel to some of the UK’s major cities by train, perhaps a day out in Liverpool or London or an overnight stop in Edinburgh?

Buxton is a small, friendly town. There are plenty of shops and restaurants and the world famous Buxton Opera House is in the centre of the town. The University of Derby has a growing number of overseas students, with nearly 1000 international students, and over 700 EU students from across a total of 102 countries. Derby is rated first for its International Student Centre, which offers international students support throughout their studies, and also their faith provision, with their own multi-faith centre at the Derby Campus.

Derby is also rated in the top three for lecture quality, learning technology and employability. The university offers you an internationally recognised qualification, and have excellent links with industry, ensuring up to date teaching and practical experience.

You can study a wide range of subjects at Derby including; business, computing, law, hospitality, tourism, health, education, sciences, art and design.

The university will support you from the moment you arrive in the UK, and they offer a free airport pick-up service (across four UK airports) for first year international students.
