Ask Anna – UK Points Based Visa System

Question:

“I’m confused by the UK points based visa system. Can you help?”

Answer:

This is a very common question since the UK introduced their new points-based system. It is actually quite simple – you just need 40 points to apply for a visa.

- You get 30 points by enrolling on a course and getting a letter from the education provider (university, college or school)

- You get the other 10 points by proving you have enough money to pay for your course and living expenses. You can do this by providing a bank statement or letter.

We wrote an article about this previously if you need more information UK: What the new points system means for you

Ask Anna – Admission options

Question:

“I think my final year grades are too low for admission to a foreign university – what options do I have?”

Answer:

This is a common concern for many students so please don’t worry as there are many options open to students who do not meet the academic requirements for foreign universities.

Many colleges and universities offer ‘foundation’ or ‘bridging’ programs that, after successful completion, can lead to direct entry onto undergraduate degrees.
