Why would you like to study overseas, what subject and where would you like to study?

Why? Globally-recognised courses and qualifications are the 1st factor. Next is about the experience of studying abroad. I would like also expand my network of friends as I love making friends especially international friend. It’s also lil bit about my interest of love traveling too ;) I would like persuing my study in Australia and taking Electrical engineering.

How did you come in contact with StudyLink?

I searched on continuing study at IDP and found it.

What are you most excited about when it comes to studying abroad?

As we knew StudyLink provides us information of studying abroad and gives us chance to persue there.

What is your biggest challenge?

I have no guide and don’t know what should I do to persue my study abroad and also my English is quite bad. But I am going to take IELTS soon. Wish me luck ;)

What is your future career goal?

Now I am studying in field of engineering and becoming as an engineer soon. But I would also like in business. Maybe I will be an entrepreneur. Pray for me!  ;)

Japan: IUJ Investment Club puts MBA theory into practice

Oscar Mendoza, from Mexico, started an Investment Club to help his fellow IUJ students put their theory into practice. Now they are challenging their professors to build the best portfolio. We chat to Oscar about his experience at IUJ, and what he has learned from running the club.

IUJ (International University of Japan) is consistently ranked as the number one business school in Japan. And that’s one reason why Oscar chose to study his MBA there, after graduating with a Bachelor in International Studies (finance and political science) from the University of North Texas in 2003.

“I was adamant about pursuing a graduate degree in Asia. I grew up in Latin America, and studied in the US. I wanted to get a diverse perspective and study under a different curriculum,” says Oscar.

He started his MBA, with a double finance and marketing concentration, in October 2008. His first challenge was to learn Japanese.

Australia: Is Queensland the world’s favourite study destination?

Queensland is Australia’s favourite holiday destination, known for its slogan ‘Beautiful one day, perfect the next.’ Is it also the best place for international students to live, work and learn? We ask Elsbeth Albertine, an MBA student at the University of Queensland.

Elsbeth Albertine, from the Netherlands, doesn’t hesitate to name her MBA studies at UQ as ‘one of the best experiences of my life’.

“The best thing about my MBA program at UQ is that I got the chance to meet people from all over the world and hear so many different experiences and points of view. The assignments we have to do as part of our assessment really helps to develop research and understanding skills,” she says.

The University of Queensland (UQ) is located in Brisbane, Queensland’s capital city. It’s known around the world for its highly-awarded teaching staff and researchers, and excellent campus facilities and services. Students can choose fro over 350 different programs at seven faculties, including full degrees, study abroad, student exchange, English language training and academic foundation programs.

Australia: The truth about those first few weeks

UQWhat are those first weeks at University really like? Candida Fernandes, from Mumbai, is studying Writing, Editing and Publishing at the University of Queensland and shares her story.

The sky was blue, and yet everything was different. The first day in this new place had felt like stepping out under a different sun. New insecurities, new worried felt out of place with the excitement of all the things to come.

On my first day attending class at UQ, the sheer vastness of the campus felt overwhelming. I had a map in my university kit, from the day of orientation, but I still managed to enter the wrong building. The buildings at UQ are old yet new. It is like walking into a story.

Orientation week introduced me to the country, the university and the schedule I was in for. I loved the library tour, I am an enthusiastic reader and will need to do a lot of course reading – so I expect it to become my second home. (more…)
